An official of the Reynolds Construction Company Nigeria Limited, Abuja has been arrested by operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission for alleged extortion and illegal deduction from the monthly salaries of workers.

A statement signed by Mr. Mike Sowe, the Head of Public Enlightenment, ICPC, said the suspect was arrested following a petition to the commission alleging that despite their persistent appeals to the management of RCC, he still deducted N5,00 each from their monthly salaries.

The petitioners alleged that they were sacked from the services of the company by Napoleon Oborosemre, the head of the iron bending section and his assistant, Daniel Igere.

Consequently, they wrote a petition to the commission following which a sting operation was organised by the operatives of the commission who arrested the suspect after he received the sum of N5, 000.

In the cause of the arrest, the marked money offered as gratification was recovered from Mr. Jerry Mgizomyebi and Mr. Onome Goddy, who confessed that they collected the money on behalf of their boss, Mr. Napoleon Oborosemre.

ICPC said that the suspect would soon be arraigned in court for violating the provisions of sections 19, 22 (3) of the ICPC Act 2000 to serve as a deterrent to others who took advantage of helpless workers.
