He is few years to 80- year- old. On 11th May, 2008 he will be marrying a 35-year old lady whose name was giving as Isata Jabbie, the former known Presidential Lodge Lady during the reign of the SLPP government. Initially, the traditional marriage ceremony was scheduled to take place at the Country Lodge at Hill Station, when the 80-year-old Bride Groom rejected the venue, and was quoted as saying that he would like to have everything done quietly at his residence at Kabbaya Lodge, Juba Estate.

On the 15th May, 08 the Bride Groom has been forced to appear at the Special Court in Sierra Leone to give testimony on behalf of RUF Issa Sesay, after he dodged appearance few days back and went to Guinea. Ex- President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, four days after his wedding ceremony with Isata Jabbie will make himself available at the Special Court.

The Registrar of the court, after holding consultations with the office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice and permission granted, had cause to serve a fresh subpoena on Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah on the 30th April,08.

According to documentary evidence  states that “The office of the Registrar thereafter instructed the Deputy Chief of the Court Management Section to have personnel from the Special Court for Sierra Leone’s Court Management Section attend at the office of the Attorney General to make enquiries on steps being taken to effect service of the subpoena on H.E.Dr.Kabbah

It is now clear to both the ex-president and the Special Court that the service had been effected. The documents states “Service of the subpoena has been effected. The Registrar has taken all necessary measures to have the subpoena served in compliance with the Trial Chamber’s direction”

In addition to the service, the office of the Registrar requested the Court Management Section to deliver a letter to H.E. Dr. Kabbah, Ref/REG/297/2008/VM, advising him that the Trial Chamber 1 had adjourned his testimony date to 15th May, 2008, the Deputy Chief of Court Management confirmed that the letter had been delivered directly to H.E.Dr. Kabbah at his residence by Mr. Eustace S.H.Thompson, Archiving Officer of Court Management…”

It is not known this time round whether or not the ex-president would absent himself from the court like he did few days back or with the ECOWAS Court.

Reportedly, family sources of the Bride explained to this press that Ms. Jabbie is hurriedly and frantically put all arrangements in place for her wedding ceremony. Already, she has solicited a member of the Janneh Family along Bai Bureh road to serve as godmother for the ceremony.

It would be recalled that Mrs. Patricia Kabbah, former wife of the ex-president died in the 1990s, shortly after the restoration of the SLPP government. She was loved by many Sierra Leoneans, who most of the time referred to her as the “Mother of Sierra Leoneans” because of her passion, care and love for both the country and her Sierra Leonean counterparts. She is missed, but her memories still linger in the minds of her brothers and sisters at home and abroad
