US LNG exports up on week

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports from the United States rose during the week ending Wednesday, March 28, the Energy Information Administration said in its weekly natural gas report.

Five LNG vessels with a combined capacity of 18.2 billion cubic feet (Bcf) have departed Cheniere Energy’s plant since Wednesday last week, according to EIA.

This compares to four LNG carriers with a combined capacity of 14.9 Bcf the week before.

Two vessels with a combined capacity of 7 Bcf were also loading at the terminal on Wednesday, EIA said.

The natural gas feedstock to the Sabine Pass terminal averaged 3.3 Bcf/d during the report week, as compared to 3.2 Bcf/d last week.

To remind, Dominion Energy’s Cove Point LNG export terminal in Maryland, the second US facility to produce LNG from shale gas, is expected to ship its second cargo of the fuel soon.

The 173,400-cbm newbuild LNG tanker Patris, chartered by BP, is expected to arrive at the Cove Point facility around April 9.
