The chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) leaked details of the FBI’s investigation into the president to Trump.

Then-FBI director James Comey briefed congressional leaders, including Burr, about the bureau’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election on March 9, 2017. The briefing included “identification of the principal U.S. subjects of the investigation,” according to the Mueller report.

The week after that briefing, on March 16, 2017, the White House Counsel’s Office “was in contact with” Burr and “appears to have received information about the status of the FBI investigation,” according to the report.

Sen. Burr is a member of the Gang of 8, which is the eight top congressional leaders who get briefed on intelligence.

The Senate Intelligence Committee investigation was held up and praised as the better process than the sham investigation that was run by House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), but it turns out that Burr was just better than Nunes at covering his tracks, which is ultimate in damning a member of the House or the Senate with the faintest of praise.

Republicans in the House and Senate have been feeding Trump info and making it their professional mission to abuse their power to protect Donald Trump.

The national security risk to the United States isn’t the “deep state.” It’s the deeply corrupted Republican Party of Donald Trump.
