WASHINGTON -- Fresh from their stunning victory over incumbent
President Manuel Zelaya of Honduras, the Honduran Army stormed into
SEIU headquarters at 1800 Massachusetts Avenue, Northwest here and
removed President Andy Stern.
Stern had lately incited the wrath of a range of labor figures, and had
recently built an underground bunker at SEIU offices, but he was caught
off guard and bundled out of the building.
Stern was immediately put on a plane for Costa Rica and told never to
return or “face the wrath of several labor union executive boards.”
Honduran Army Commander Romeo Vasquez Velasquez told The Washington
Pox, “We had so much fun in Tegucigalpa that we thought we’d try it
again in DC.” Velasquez added that his army was transported to
Washington by Carnival Cruise Lines “paid for by a mysterious
Washington labor leader.”
By phone from an eco-resort in Costa Rica, former SEIU President Stern
said that he’d be rooming with Zelaya “for the foreseeable future.” He
added, “I’ll be back. Don’t you worry. But I want to get in some
surfing first.”
