Da Kine Pidgin, Bruddahs

I was responding the other day to some posts in Krio and pidgin. I was asked how I knew pidgin. I explained that pidgin is an important world language spoken across the globe. They should be proud to know it. We speak pidgin in Hawaii; and indeed all across the South Pacific. We use local words as extras just as Nigerian pidgin and Krio uses indigenous languages as fillers. I remember my shock when I first arrived in Nigeria at the old airport in Lagos. As I was walking to the arrivals hall I was met by a small boy who asked me, in pidgin, if he could assist me with getting my luggage. I was taken aback in shock. I wondered how a black Hawaiian pikin had made his way to Africa. Then I heard others speaking and I knew that he must be Nigerian. To explain, here is a part of the first chapter of the Bible in Hawaiian pidgin so that the similarities with other pidgins are clear.
